Where She Slept – Stora Mork, Iceland

For my last stop on my journey in Iceland, I stayed on a farm called Stora Mork. It was more expensive than my previous accommodations, but it was the cheapest place I could find on the southern coast. And though I felt guilty about spending so much money, the place was perfect. I had a room and a bathroom to myself where I could just lie down and write or get a really solid nights sleep.

The farm is in the middle of no where and because I have no food, I was planning to go to bed hungry and then wake up early and go to find a grocery store. But I met the sweetest couple from Taiwan when I arrived and they gave me two instant ramen cups and a whole container of Pringles. I stayed up late chatting with them and learning about where they were going and all of the other adventures they had been on. It was so lovely. When I woke up this morning I found a note slipped under my door:

I am constantly being reminded of the goodness in people on my travels. I have been so fortunate to meet so many kind and selfless travelers and locals. As someone on their own, I have learned a lot about being open to others and the importance of helping them as they continue on their own journeys. It’s the least I can do after they have helped me on mine.
