Where She Slept – Swanton, OH, USA

Y’all I don’t know how everyone isn’t yelling about how great Hipcamp is. Or maybe people are and I just am running in the wrong circles.

If you haven’t heard of this awesome website before, it’s a lot like Airbnb, but for campers. On there, you can find anything from people renting out their suburban backyard to the cutest tiny houses tucked away in mountainsides. That means that it’s way more affordable than your average Airbnb. Plus, it’s founder and CEO is a very cool lady named Alyssa Ravasio (read this interview with her)!

The night I spent outside of Toledo, OH was my first experience with HipCamp and it was fantastic! My host allowed me to change my reservation when my trip was pushed back a day, and when I arrived she put me up in the cabin in the backyard since it was going to rain that night, even though I had only paid for a campsite.

The cabin at Anna’s was small and sweet, with two platforms for camping pads and sleeping pads. I took a walk around the property in the morning to stretch my legs. Walking through the quiet woods, I could have been hours from civilization, but I-90 was just a couple minutes’ drive from the campsite. I definitely recommend this spot to any other cross-country travelers out there!
