Waiting for me in Hot Springs, South Dakota was not only a quaint cabin perched on the Black Hills, but also a long-awaited reunion with one of my dearest friends. I spent four fantastic days in the Black Hills with Justine, her two sisters, and her dog.
Though I’ve been trying to keep my costs low, we splurged on an Airbnb. From the deck, we watched a hot air balloon bob between sunset-pink clouds. At night, the full moon shone through my window and I listened to coyotes yelp as I lay in bed.
After long days driving through the prairie or hikes through the Black Hills or explorations of the Badlands, evenings spent at the cabin with Justine, Finley Megan, and Mariah were absolute bliss. I’ll be dreaming of going back for the foreseeable future.
