Where She Slept – Florence, Italy

After living out of hostels in Budapest, Vienna, and Bled, spending four nights with family in Florence was a welcome change. It’s always nice to do your laundry and sleep in a bed with a proper pillow and blankets, to eat homemade food and to sleep in. On top of that, Florence was my first “destination” that I was visiting for a second time. I had first visited in June 2015 and had absolutely fallen in love. But the short visit had not been nearly enough and I was really looking forward to exploring it some more.
It was so nice to be able to close the door and be on my own for the night. That is something that I didn’t know I would miss: having my own space. And though it is only temporary, having someone tell you to make yourself at home, is a great feeling. And crawling into bed and having that time to yourself is only made better when your belly is full of home-cooked Italian food.
